Vehicle Infocards[]
General information[]
The Z-8G is manufactured by Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation (CAIC) and was introduced as a replacement for the Harbin Z-8 in 2018. It is a tri-engine, medium-lift transport helicopter deployed for PLA ground forces for logistics and PLA Navy for anti-submarine warfare. The design is a development of the Harbin Z-8 and the Avicopter AC313, both in turn based on the Aérospatiale SA 321 Super Frelon.
The Z-8G weighs 15,432 lb (7,000 kg), is 75 ft (23 m) long, 62 ft (19 m) wide (rotor span), and 23 ft (7 m) tall. Its top speed is 209 mph (336 kph). Z-8J is an airborne early warning variant of the Z-8G.
Variants[]
- Z-8 has two variants—the ground force variant Z-8G and naval variant Z-8J.
- Z-8G is available to the People’s Liberation Army and the PLA Amphibious Ground Force.
- Z-8J is available exclusively to the PLA Navy Marine Corps.
Gameplay[]
- The Z-8 can carry a maximum of 1500 points of supplies which is 500 more than the UH-60M but the same as the MRH-90 and the Russian Mi-8 and Mi-17.
- Neither of the Z-8s variants have door guns or any additional armament.
- This makes it the only unarmed helicopter in-game.
- Like the UH-1Y and the CH-146, the Z-8J also has a scout camera, able to rotate 360° for the co-pilot's position. It allows for impressive long range reconnaissance from the air.
- As of V4.0, the Z-8G is the largest helicopter in-game with a total occupancy of 27 people.

Trivia[]
The Z-8, the Aérospatiale SA 321 Super Frelon and the Avicopter AC313 have a unique engine arrangement in common, where two engines are located on one side and the third engine on the other side (see this cutaway view). The third engine solely powers the tail rotor (source).
