The Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) is a playable faction featured in Squad since Version 5.0. This faction is the 12th playable faction and the tenth conventional military featured in the game.
History
The Russian Airborne Forces (Russian: Воздушно-десантные войска России, ВДВ, romanized: Vozdushno-desantnye voyska Rossii, VDV) is an independent military branch of the Russian Armed Forces, focusing on mechanized airborne warfare. It was formed in 1992 from units of the Soviet Airborne Forces that came under Russian control following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Flag
The flag that represents the Russian Airborne Forces in Squad is the Russian Airborne Forces Flag. It consists of a blue and green background with a yellow parachute and a pair of transport aircraft in the center.
Kits and equipment
Nearly all VDV weapons feature modern optics. The Squad Leader role is replaced by the Senior Rifleman, which all have access to under-barrel grenade launchers. The first Senior Rifleman kit wears iconic blue berets, and the whole faction wears blue-striped telnyashka undershirt.

In-game equipment
The Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) use a diverse set of equipment primarily developed in the post-Soviet era. The VDV offers modernized and specialized weapons, like the AK-12, AS-VAL, and SV-98M. Optics are more advanced and commonly seen than in the Russian Ground Forces.
