The Mosin Nagant M38 is a carbine featured in Squad.[1] It was added in update v2.0 and was used by the Insurgents up until update v2.16. As of update v8.2 it has been re-introduced into the game for use in the now renamed Middle Eastern Insurgents
Partially-depleted magazines are replenished by individually feeding cartridges, while fully-depleted magazines are replenished by a 5-round stripper clip.
Can be fired on bolt-action only.
The Mosin Nagant M38 is shorter in length than the Mosin Nagant M1891 sniper rifle. The two variants have the same damage drop-off range and magazine capacity, but carbine has lower damage but faster reload speed and fire rate.
The Mosin Nagant M38 is classified in-game as the Sniper Rifle. But The Mosin Nagant M38 has the handling properties of the Battle Rifle. They have dreadful sway, relatively low point fire responsiveness, and excessive recoil, especially when standing up.
The Mosin Nagant M38 outputs regular suppression effects.
The Mosin Nagant M38 shares its handling characteristic with Mosin Nagant M1891.
Trivia
The Mosin Carbine's damage was reduced after a sapper shot and killed Sgt Ross while he was attempting to protect his radio in a Squad playtest. This led to the radio's destruction and the Carbine's viability as a weapon.
