Gameplay[]
- The MK153 SMAW is a reusable, smoothbore anti-tank launcher.
- The MK153 generates a back blast that can injure or kill anybody standing nearby behind the weapon when it's being fired.
- The arming distance for all Heavy Anti-Tank rocket launchers is 20 meters. This was standardized in Version 7.0.[3]
- Prior to Patch 6.0.1, the minimum arming range for the MK153 SMAW depends on the warhead. The Tandem HEAT has an arming distance of 44m, while the High-Explosive Multipurpose is 26.4m.
- If you are too close to your target, the rocket will not detonate or deal any damage.
- The MK153 SMAW is fitted with an optical scope.
- The scope provides a clear and easy-to-understand sight picture.
- The MK153 SMAW is also equipped with coaxial MK217 Spotting Rifle (rangefinder)
- The coaxial rangefinder shoots out a tracer round to indicate the ballistic trajectory of the Tandem HEAT. Use it to hit enemy armor accurately.
- You carry three magazines for the MK217.
- The MK153 Tandem HEAT round shares its damage model with most Heavy Anti-Tank launchers in the game, with 1400 base damage, and 900mm penetration.
- However, it has very low splash damage at 80 in addition to a small blast radius. Granted, players should never waste Tandem HEAT ammo on infantry targets, but with 80 maximum splash damage, the SMAW is especially inadequate for anti-infantry, as the Tandem rocket cannot secure any soft target at full health inside its blast radius.
- The MK153 HE Multipurpose round shares its ballistic performance with PF98 Multipurpose HE-I round. And they both cost more than other HEAT rounds for HAT launchers, at 50.
- However, MK153 HE Multipurpose doesn't have any special features (e.g. the higher anti-infantry splash damage) like that of PF98 Multipurpose HE-I. This is either an oversight or an artificial nerf.
- When you reload your ammunition from an ammo crate, your launcher is not automatically ready to fire the next time you switch to it. You must switch to the launcher, finish the animation of discarding the old cartridge, and then arm the new one.
- Armour calculation involves many factors that are not limited to simple base damage and penetration. The slope of the armor, its thickness, the angle of hit, all of that matter when the game engine decides if damage has been dealt to the target. Examine the vehicle armor models on Jensen's Range to learn where your shots will do damage.

Trivia[]
- Introduced in V3.0, MK153 SMAW was the first handled weapon with a coaxial ballistic rangefinder. Previously, only coaxial machine guns on certain vehicles had this function in-game.
