Gameplay
- The M16A4's magazine holds up to 30 rounds.
- It has 2 fire modes, 3-round burst or semi-automatic.
- When the M16A4 is equipped by a Squad Leader, every 4th round is a tracer round.
- The sights available for the M16A4 are the iron sights and the M150 (4×) scope.
- The iron sights can be zeroed for different ranges (from 100m-400m.)
- The M150 (4×) scope makes it easier to target and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon.
- The M16A4 is a well-balanced weapon with adequate damage, effective range, and bullet dispersion performance.
- The M16A4 shares its damage model and ballistic performance with the M4, M4A1, and M16A2.
- The 833 rounds per minute rate of fire sits above average for most automatic weapons. It can output serious firepower in close-quarter combat. Though M16A4 is limited to burst-fire and semi-automatic only.
- The M16A4 is classified in-game as a Full-Length Rifle. Full-Length Rifles have increased standing sway while offering better crouch/prone position stability in handling.
- They output regular suppression effects, are slightly hard to point fire, and are effective at medium to long ranges.
- Some M16A4 variants have a vertical foregrip attached. However, the vertical foregrip attachment is cosmetic and does not improve the gun handling as of Version 6.0.
History
The M16A4 is the fourth generation of the M16 series. The integrated real sight/carrying handle on the upper reciever of previous M16 variants was replaced by a MIL-STD-1913 rail (more commonly known as a Picatinny rail) for mounting optics or a removable rear sight/carrying handle. The M16A4 rear aperture sights are integrated into the Picatinny rail-mounted carry handle/rear sight, and they are adjustable from 300m (328 yd) up to 600m (656 yd), but the similar M16A2 iron sights be zeroed for shooting at targets up to 800m (875 yd) away. The M16A4, using a safe/semi/three-round burst trigger group, became the standard issue for the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after it's creation in 1997.
