M16A2 is a lightweight 5.56mm air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed assault rifle, with a rotating bolt and an attached M203 single-shot 40 mm under-barrel grenade launcher. It was originally designed by and for the US Marine Corps as an improvement over the M16A1, it was adopted in the 1980's by the USMC and US Army. The rifle became widely adopted by many other armed forces around the world where it was the most prolific 5.56 rifle produced with ~8 million units sold.
Can be fired in a 3-round burst or semi-automatic.
The sights for the M16A2 are the carrying handle iron sight and the 3×20 (3×) Optic sight.
The carry handle iron sight allows the user to zero the rifle for different ranges (from 100m to 400m).
The 3×20 (3×) Optic allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon.
M16A2 is a well-balanced weapon with adequate damage, effective range, and bullet dispersion performance.
M16A2 shares its damage model and ballistic performance with M4, M4A1, and M16A4.
The 833 rounds per minute rate of fire sits above average for most automatic weapons. It can output serious firepower in close-quarter combat. However, the fire mode is limited to burst-fire and semi-automatic only.
M16A2 is classified in-game as Full-Length Rifle. Full-Length Rifles have increased standing sway while offering better crouch/prone position stability in handling.
They output regular suppression effects, are slightly hard to point fire, and are effective at medium to long ranges.
