Gameplay

  • The L131A1 box magazine holds 17 rounds.
    • Most BAF kits receive 2 mags, Most WPMC kits receive 3 mags, and the MEI Raider kit receive 5 mags.
  • Can be fired on only semi-automatic.
  • The sights for the L131A1 include the iron sights only.
    • The iron sights have a fixed zero of 50m.
  • The L131A1 shares its damage model with M17 Modular Handgun System but with worse muzzle velocity and slower reload speed.
    • The 652 rounds per minute is the maximum allowed rate of fire for the semi-automatic pistol.
  • The L131A1 is classified in-game as the Pistol. Pistols are backup weapons with low stopping power and minimal suppression effect. They have moderate sway, regular point fire responsiveness, and slightly more recoil than Carbines due to their unsupported nature. Changing stances have minimal impact on Pistol's recoil and sway.
  • Using Pistols as a primary is not a good idea due to the low damage and severe damage dropoff at range, as they don't necessarily have more controllability than Short Rifles. But it can save your life in a pinch when the enemy is caught reloading or when your primary weapon is out of ammo.

History

The Glock 17 was designed by Austrian engineer Gaston Glock in 1982, which is the first successful pistol with a polymer frame. Soon, the Austrian Armed Forces formed a strict competition to replace the outdated Walther P39 as the standard sidearm of the military. Later, the Glock 17 quickly rose to fame in many NATO countries and is used as the standard sidearm for many NATO countries' militaries. The G17 is the standard military sidearm for the British Army since 2013. The G17 is a self-loading, semi-automatic, short recoil, locked breech, tilting barrel pistol. The G17 is also prominently known to be made out of a high-strength nylon-based polymer invented by Glock, increasing the durability of the pistol. The G17 uses 17-round detachable box magazines. The gun uses the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge.

Trivia

  • The "Glock" part of the Glock 17 is named after Gaston Glock, the inventor of the pistol. The "17" comes from the gun being the 17th patent procured by the company.
