General Information[]

The KPVT (Крупнокалиберный Пулемёт Владимирова - Large Caliber Machine Gun) is Russian heavy machine gun which utilizes heavy 14.5x114mm cartridge. The KPVT was designed during the Soviet-era as an infantry weapon designated PKP. In the nineteen sixties, the PKP was taken out of production for infantry use and was modified for anti-aircraft use. This proved effective as the KPVT had an effective horizontal range of three kilometers and an effective vertical range of two kilometers, the anti-air version was used in the ZPU series of anti-air weaponry. The vehicle mounted PKP was designated KPVT and is used on the BTR series of vehicles. The PKP was a successful export, seeing use in over forty countries world-wide. The KPVT fires the 14.5x114mm cartridge at one thousand and five meters per second, making it effective against armor.

  • The belt contains fifty cartridges before it needs to be reloaded and its effective range is three kilometers.
  • The KPVT can be used for anti-infantry and anti-vehicle. However, each of the vehicles with the KPVT also come equipped with the PKT machine gun, which is better suited to anti-infantry given the greater ammo capacity.
  • When selected in the gunner seat, the KPVT is listed as "KPVT BZT AP Incendiary."
  • The BRDM-2 and MT-LBM 6MA have 9 cartridges for a total of 450 rounds. The BTR-80 has 7 cartridges for a total of 350 rounds.
