General Information[]
The KPVT (Крупнокалиберный Пулемёт Владимирова Танковый - Vladimirov's Large Caliber Machine Gun for Armor) is a Russian heavy machine gun that utilizes heavy 14.5x114mm cartridge.
The KPV was designed during the Soviet era by S. V. Vladimirov as an infantry weapon designated PKP. In the nineteen sixties, the PKP was taken out of production for infantry use and was modified for anti-aircraft use. This proved effective as the KPV had an effective horizontal range of three kilometers and an effective vertical range of two kilometers; the anti-air version was used in the ZPU series of anti-air weaponry.
The vehicle-mounted KPV was designated KPVT and is used on the BTR series of vehicles. The KPV was a successful export, seeing use in over forty countries worldwide. The KPVT fires the 14.5x114mm cartridge at a velocity of 1500 meters per second, making it effective against armor.

Variants[]
- The KPVT is mounted to the BTR-80, BRDM-2, and MT-LBM 6MA.
- The BRDM-2 and MT-LBM 6MA have 9 cartridge boxes for a total of 450 rounds.
- The BTR-80 has 7 cartridges boxes for a total of 350 rounds.
- All variants of KPVT are mounted in the enclosed turret.
- When selected in the gunner seat, the KPVT is listed as "KPVT BZT AP Incendiary".
Gameplay[]
- Can be fired only on automatic.
- The belt contains 50 rounds before it needs to be reloaded.
- The effective range of the KPVT is 2.8 kilometers.
- KPVT optic provides two levels of zoom, 1.2x and 4x.[1][2][3]
- The KPVT can be used for anti-infantry and anti-vehicle, however, you should prioritize engaging vehicles with the KPVT. KPVT turret also comes equipped with the PKT machine gun, which is better suited against infantry given the greater ammo capacity.
- The firepower of the KPVT machine gun should not be underestimated, as its bullets penetrate nearly all current in-game armor and dispose of groups of enemy personnel with relative ease:
- KPVT can penetrate every armored vehicle in-game except main battle tanks. It can penetrate and damage M2A3, unlike .50 Cal machine guns. It however cannot penetrate the side armor plates of the FV510 UA.
- Don't hesitate to use it for the anti-aircraft role. Compared to ZU-23-2, KPVT has higher base damage, longer ranges, higher muzzle velocity, and higher accuracy. Despite the slower fire rates, KPVT also has comparable damage output.
- It can also penetrate thinner walls, meaning that you can neutralize shielded or covered enemy infantry.
- It can also penetrate the bulletproof windshields of other light vehicles, killing infantry inside directly.
- Armour calculation involves many factors that are not limited to simple base damage and penetration. The slope of the armor, its thickness, the angle of hit, all of that matter when the game engine decides if damage has been dealt to the target. Prioritize areas such as flat armor angles, turret, and rear areas, which are less effective against the 14.5x114mm.
- Firing in short bursts is extremely effective in long-range engagements.
- Like all heavy machine guns, it features a long reload time. Conservation of ammunition will prove helpful to last through your ammunition belt instead of burning through it so that you do not have to reload at the wrong time. Note that it often is useful to reload the gun in cover after a short engagement if you didn't fully empty the magazine.
- Among all heavy machine guns, KPVT is the only weapon with a caliber of 14.5x114mm, which gives it unique damage models and ballistic properties.
- It has a fire rate of 600 PRM. However, the machine gun will overheat faster than other machine guns with sustained fire.
- It has the highest damage for heavy machine guns, at 220; and fastest muzzle velocity, at 1004 m/s.
