Squad can be played in different game modes. When you choose a server to play on, you should make a conscious choice what game mode you want to play and choose the server accordingly. The servers will rotate maps, and sometimes game modes, after every match. The most common game modes are Advance and Secure, Insurgency and Invasion.

Other Game modes[]

  • Shooting Range (Jensen's Range) singleplayer sandbox mode
  • Seed: Cointains a Seeding Phase and a Live Phase. There are no kit restrictions active – this can be toggled by Admins. Ticket penalties and rewards for player / vehicle deaths, capture point gains / losses, and radio losses are disabled – this includes ticket bleed being disabled. Fighting is limited to the map layer’s central capture point by restriction zones which prevent movement to the “enemy’s side” of the map, while still allowing projectiles through.[1]

Hints[]

At the start of a new match, the name of the game mode appears at the top of your screen. This is useful because there is map rotation and game mode rotation after each match.

Some game modes have a 3-minute "Staging Period" at the beginning of a new match. During this time, you can spawn in at your team's Main Base or forward spawns, organize your squads, roles, get to your vehicles and prepare to move out. However, you are unable to leave the Main Base and spawn area until the timer has fully elapsed, you are also unable to start vehicle engines. To prevent griefing issues, you cannot fire your weapons during the staging period.

Trivia[]

  • Sumari Bala has a Skimirsh version named "Seed", with even less tickets and vehicles especially suited for seeding servers. As of 2021, that is the only map with such layer.
