Gameplay

  • The EF88 magazine holds 30 rounds.
  • Can be fired on automatic and semi-automatic.
  • When the EF88 is equipped by a Squad Leader, every 4th round is a tracer round.
  • Some variants of the EF88 are fitted with Grippod, allowing the weapon to rest stably on surfaces.
  • The sights for the EF88 include flip-up iron sights, ET552 holographic sight, and SpecterDR (1-4×) optical sight.
    • The flip-up iron sight allows the user to zero the rifle for different ranges (from 50-200m).
    • The ET552 holographic sight allows a clear sight picture for close-range combat, but it doesn't allow zeroing, limiting long-range effectiveness.
    • The SpecterDR (1-4×) optical sight allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon. The variable zoom function allows for increased versatility in target acquisition across different ranges.
  • Arguably one of the stronger assault rifles in-game, EF88 and EF88C combine a high rate of fire, good point fire responsiveness, reduced moving sway, and variable zoom optics, making it combat effective at all ranges.
  • EF88 shares its damage model and ballistic performance with F88 and EF88C.
    • The 833 rounds per minute rate of fire sits above average for most automatic weapons. It can output serious firepower in close-quarter combat but makes the gun more difficult to control.
    • EF88 and EF88C currently have the fastest muzzle velocity out of all light weapons in-game, at 970 m/s.
  • EF88 is classified in-game as Bullpup. Bullpups offer better moving sway control and pointing responsiveness in handling at the expense of slightly higher recoil.
    • They output regular suppression effects and are effective at all ranges.
  • All EF88 rifles have Foregrip attached. However, the Foregrip attachment is cosmetic and does not improve the gun handling as of Version 6.0.

History

The Enhanced F88, or EF88, is a gas-operated, rotating-bolt bullpup. The EF88 (EF88/F90) is a modernized evolution of the F88 Austeyr (an Australian license-built variant of the Steyr AUG). Built by Lithgow Arms, it was adopted by the Australian Defence Force as the standard issue rifle in 2015. The EF88 is intended for short-, medium-, and long-range engagements. Thanks to the Elcan Spectre sight and long barrel, it can pour accurate fire out to 600m. The weapon is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO.

Trivia

  • On certain layers, such as Chora RAAS v3, EF88 is replaced by the legacy F88 rifles.
