General Information[]
The Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle is an 84 mm man-portable reusable anti-tank weapon produced in Sweden. Introduced in 1946, it was one of the many recoilless rifle designs of that era. While similar weapons have generally disappeared from service, the Carl Gustaf is still being manufactured and remains in widespread use today.

Gameplay[]
- The Carl Gustaf is a shoulder-fired recoilless rifle, capable of engaging, and destroying a large variety of targets on the modern battlefield.
- The Carl Gustaf generates a back blast that can injure or kill anybody standing nearby behind the weapon when it's being fired.
- The arming distance for all Heavy Anti-Tank rocket launchers is 20 meters. This was standardized in Version 7.0.[3]
- Prior to Patch 6.0.1, the minimum arming range for the Carl Gustaf depends on the warhead. The M3 MAAWS Tandem HEAT has an arming distance of 42 meters; The M3 MAAWS HEAT is armed at 39 meters; The M2 Tandem HEAT is armed at 46 meters; The M2 HEAT is armed at 39 meters; the M2 HE is armed at 25 meters; and the Smoke round is armed at 25 meters.
- If you are too close to your target, the rocket will not detonate or deal any damage.
- Variety of ammunition is available to Carl Gustaf across different factions, including Tandem HEAT, regular HEAT, High Explosive, and Smoke.
- The Carl Gustaf is the only rocket launcher capable of firing smoke rockets (M3 MAAWS variant only), which emit a large cloud of smoke at the point of impact. Note that this rocket is selected in the item row of 4 (4) instead of 3 (3).
- Make sure the proper round is armed in advance. Fragmentation and smoke rounds do not damage armor but may puncture tires. High Explosive Anti-Tank rounds are effective against all armor types. Tandem rounds should be reserved for the heaviest armor, such as Infantry Fighting Vehicles and Main Battle Tanks, when possible.
- The M3 MAAWS is fitted with an optical scope with stadiametric drop reticles. You should use it for accurate distance measurement to guarantee a hit. The M3 MAAWS optic has a built-in drop reticle with a maximum range of 500 meters.
- The M2 Carl Gustaf does not have the stadiametric drop reticles. But you can set zeroing for the scope by pressing the ranging key (X) + mouse wheel, the function that also works on the M3.
- This is the only HAT launcher scope in-game that allows zeroing; typically, only iron sights on the HAT launcher are allowed for zeroing.
- The high explosive anti-tank and smoke rockets each be accurately ranged up to 700 meters, while the tandem rocket can be ranged up to 500 meters.
- You can combine zeroing and reticles together, meaning if the range is set to 200 meters and the drop reticle is placed at 200 meters, the rocket will land at exactly 400 meters. Theoretically, with 500 meters reticle and 700 meters range, you can engage targets 1200 meters away.
- Below is the M3 MAAWS reticles:
- The M2 Carl Gustaf does not have the stadiametric drop reticles. But you can set zeroing for the scope by pressing the ranging key (X) + mouse wheel, the function that also works on the M3.
- The MK153 Tandem HEAT round shares its damage model with most Heavy Anti-Tank launchers in the game, with 1400 base damage, 200 splash damage, and 900mm penetration.
- When you reload your ammunition from an ammo crate, your launcher is not automatically ready to fire the next time you switch to it. You must switch to the launcher, finish the animation of discarding the old cartridge, and then arm the new one.
- Armour calculation involves many factors that are not limited to simple base damage and penetration. The slope of the armor, its thickness, the angle of hit, all of that matter when the game engine decides if damage has been dealt to the target. Examine the vehicle armor models on Jensen's Range to learn where your shots will do damage.
