~ In-game description |
The Canadian Army (or Canadian Armed Forces/CAF) is a playable free DLC faction in Squad. This faction is the fourth conventional army featured in the game. It was originally developed by fans of Squad as a modification for the game, but was later incorporated officially by OWI as DLC. This faction was added in the Alpha 15.3 update.[1]

Flag
The flag representing the Canadian Army in Squad is the Flag Of Canada, or unofficially called the Maple Leaf. The flag origin stems from a 1964 committee tasked to create a new Canadian flag, and the current in use is credited to George Stanley, who based his design off the Royal Military College of Canada. The red and white colours comes from the Royal Arms Of Canada (derived from Saint George's Cross, the Flag of England, who Canada still owes allegiance to as part of the Commonwealth under the United Kingdom) while the Maple Leaf stems from coats of arms from the 1800's (known as the Red Ensign)
Operational Dress
The Canadian Army uses Canadian Disruptive Pattern (CADPAT) camouflage on their combat uniforms. CADPAT Temperate Woodland (TW) is a primarily green pattern worn in Canada and in similar environments overseas, while CADPAT Arid Regions (AR) is worn only on deployments to desert regions.
Kits and equipment
The Canadian Army is the only conventional faction to have a Sniper kit under the Specialist category. It's also the only conventional faction equipped with a bolt-action rifle.

In-game equipment
The Canadian Army/Canadian Armed Forces is armed with a strange mix of both US and European weaponry, some of which is produced locally in Canada and some of which is procured from friendly nations. The majority of their small arms are copies of US weapons, albeit produced in Canada by the Colt Canada Company. The Armoured Personnel Carriers and Infantry Fighting Vehicles in their inventory are all wheeled and based off of the same starting platform, the LAV 6.0. The Canadian Army has operated local variants of the LAV family since the late 1960s, with the older vehicles phased out as more modern versions became available. The LAV 2 was on the way out by the late 1990s, replaced by the LAV III, which served Canadians in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2011. By the end of 2019, the Canadian Army had received the last LAV 6 to have been upgraded from LAV III configuration. The Canadian Army's Main Battle Tank is the Leopard 2, with a combination of 2A6Ms and 2A4Ms in their inventory, although they only possess a total of 82 vehicles. Canada was the first nation to send tanks to Afghanistan, deploying Leopard 2s purchased from Germany, although Denmark and the United States later followed suite.
The major differences are in the vehicle gameplay. While the Russian Ground Forces and US Army both use tracked IFVs and wheeled APCs, and the British Army use all tracked vehicles, the Canadian Army LAV 6.0 combines the speed of an APC with the firepower of an IFV. While the BTR-80 & BTR-82A also do this, it is not as well armoured as the LAV 6.0 is, giving the Canadians the edge. This does also mean however that the Canadians have no current vehicle capable of an anti-tank role as the LAV 6.0 lacks ATGMs, much like the FV510.
