The CTAS40 is an autocannon featured in Squad as vehicle armament for various vehicles.
General Information[]
The Case Telescoped Armament System (CTAS40) autocannon is designed to fire 40mm telescoped ammunition. This format provides significant benefits within vehicles in the space required for the autocannon and ammunition storage. However, selecting the new technology design for United Kingdom's major IFV programs has been controversial.

Variants[]
- The CTAS40 is available to one faction only, the British Armed Forces.
- One vehicle variant is equipped with CTAS40: FV520.
Gameplay[]
- The effective range of the CTAS40 is 4 kilometers with GP and 4 kilometers with AP.
- The CTAS40 uses one single magazine for continuous firing. For the AP and GP (general purpose) rounds, the FV520 can carry 80 rounds for each type.
- The CTAS40 has two types of ammunition available: CTAS40 AP and CTAS40 GP (general purpose).
- AP round is effective for anti-vehicles, while GP round is used for anti-infantry engagements.
- The rate of fire of the CTAS is 400 RPM, very fast for the autocannon class. This significantly increased the damage potential for CTAS40 AP and CTAS40 GP.
- The CTAS40 AP is an extremely powerful, high-damage, high-penetration AP round that can penetrate every vehicle in-game, including main battle tanks, if shot from the side and rear. This is the deepest penetrating autocannon ammunition in-game.
- The CTAS40 AP is especially competent at destroying lightly armored vehicles.
- The CTAS40 AP is one of the most powerful autocannon AP shells in the game. With high base damage at 488, a quick fire rate at 400 PRM, and a devastating penetration performance at 180 mm.
- The CTAS40 AP has the fastest muzzle velocity for autocannons at 1500 m/s. This is better than any other munition in-game and delivers flat and accurate shots toward enemies.
- The CTAS40 GP has a better damage model and penetration than other vehicle autocannon HEs, which could be seen as an overall improvement to M242 Bushmaster.
- It has the fastest muzzle velocity for the autocannon GP rounds at 1200 m/s.
- Armour calculation involves many factors that are not limited to simple base damage and penetration. The slope of the armor, its thickness, the angle of hit, all of that matter when the game engine decides if damage has been dealt to the target.
- Prioritizing areas such as flat armor angles, side, tracks, turret, and rear areas, which are less effective against the autocannon AP.
- Do not use GP round to engage vehicles unless for last resort, as it has only 8 mm penetration, which cannot damage the vast majority of the armored vehicle in-game.
- In a skirmish, opening your fight with a disability attack is advised. Shooting the tracks or wheels of your enemy can severely disable their mobility. The disabled enemy vehicle will come to a halt and remain stationary, becoming an easy target for you to finish off. They are also more prone to flanking, allowing you to circle around and target their areas with thin armor.
- The enemy crew may attempt to leave the disabled vehicle and perform battlefield repair, leaving them vulnerable to fire from you and friendly infantry.
- It's also a great practice to disable the turret first, especially for heavier vehicles such as infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks. The disabled turret will lose the stabilizer function, turret traverse, and block their HUD with glass cracks.
- Aside from penetration, vehicle health is another crucial factor to consider. Consider the damage output of your vehicle and plan out the engagement with the tactical maneuvers. It's highly advised to engage the enemy while they're unaware of your position.
- Typically, Russian/Chinese vehicles have less health than BlueFor. But their autocannons have a higher fire rate.
