Gameplay

  • The C8A3 magazine magazine holds 30 rounds.
  • Can be fired on automatic or semi-automatic.
  • It can output serious firepower in close-quarter combat but makes the gun more difficult to control.
  • When the C8A3 is equipped by a Squad Leader, every 4th round is a tracer round.
  • The sights for the C8A3 are the iron sight, ET552 holographic sight, and C79A2 (3.4×) optical sight.
    • The iron sight allows the user to zero the rifle for different ranges from 1000 meters to 400 meters.
    • The ET552 holographic sight provides a clear sight picture in the center and peripheral vision, but it doesn't allow zeroing, limiting the long-range effectiveness.
    • The C79A2 (3.4×) optic allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon. The zeroing of the C79A2 (4×) scope can be adjusted from 100 meters to 800 meters, further enhancing its long-range precision.
  • C8A3 is a well-balanced weapon with adequate damage, effective range, and bullet dispersion performance.
  • C8A3 shares its damage model and ballistic performance with C7A2, M4A1, and M16A4.
    • The 833 rounds per minute rate of fire sits above average for most automatic weapons. It can output serious firepower in close-quarter combat but makes the gun more difficult to control.
  • C8A3 is classified in-game as Carbine. Short rifles and Carbines are well-balanced in handling.
    • They output regular suppression effects, are relatively easy to point fire, and are effective at all ranges.
  • The Foregrip attachment is cosmetic and does not improve the gun handling as of Version 6.0.

History

The C8A3 is an upgraded variant of the C8 carbine, which is a domestically produced Canadian M4 carbine. Unlike the American original, it has several upgraded components, the ability to fire fully automatically, and is fully ambidextrous. The C8A3 is usually issued to roles that carry additional equipment compared to standard riflemen, such as signallers, medics, heavy weapon operators, and leadership.

Trivia

  • Before B20, the C8A3 and C7A2 were the most controllable infantry weapons in the game, giving Canadian infantry an immense advantage in firefights.
    • This was changed in later patches. After B20, C7A2 has comparable recoil to M16A4, while C8A3 has comparable recoil to M4A1. After V6.0, all Full-Length Rifles have the same recoil.
  • In the B20, the iron sight variant was added, and the C79A2 (4×) scope can be adjusted from 200 meters to 800 meters.
    • In Version 8.0, C79A2 (4×) scope zeroing was changed to between 100 meters and 800 meters.
    • This makes the Canadian Army the only faction in the game with zero-adjustable rifle scopes aside from their sniper rifle. Though after Version 6.0, zeroing for rifle scopes was added for most factions.
