~ In-game description |
The British Armed Forces (BAF) is a playable faction in Squad. This faction is the third conventional army featured in the game. It was added in the Alpha 11.0 update.[1]
History
The British Armed Forces (or "British Army") was founded in 1660 after the monarchies of Great Britain and Ireland were restored. Throughout the centuries, the British Armed Forces helped expand the British Empire into the largest empire in the world and had participated in many notable wars such as the Napoleonic Wars and the World Wars. Today, the British Armed Forces uses modern equipment created in the British homeland as well as foreign equipment, mainly created by the United Kingdom's notable ally, the United States. The British Armed Forces focuses on expeditionary warfare but also operates as a Coalition power and United Nations peacekeeper.
Flag
The flag of the British Armed Forces shown in Squad is the Union Flag; consisting of a red cross (representing St. George and England) in the center which cuts up a blue and white saltire (representing St. Andrew and Scotland) into quarters with a cut-up red saltire (which represents St. Patrick and Ireland) within the white lines of the blue and white saltire. Wales has no representation on the flag.

In-game equipment
The British Armed Forces use modern Western weaponry. In addition, the British Army fields many optical sights for most of their small arms. The NLAW anti-tank launcher features a fire control system for reliable anti-armor gameplay. British soldiers can be identified by their MTP (Multi-Terrain Pattern) uniforms.
The BAF vehicle arsenal is predominantly tracked, even for light vehicles. It also possesses one of the toughest armored APCs and IFVs in-game, namely FV432 and FV510. However, these heavy fortresses usually lack two-plane stabilizers, with the exception of FV520, an experimental IFV platform that is often regarded as the strongest in-game.
