~ In-game description |
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is a playable DLC faction in Squad. This faction is the sixth conventional army featured in the game. It was officially announced on July 21, 2020, and was set to be available in 2021.[1]
The faction was originally a fan-made downloadable mod for Squad developed by Midnight Interactive (now Zero Hour Interactive), lead by former OWI developer Chance Blair (a.k.a. ChanceBrahh). The mod was sold to OWI sometime in 2020 and was incorporated officially by OWI as DLC with release 2.15 on April 13, 2022.
History
The Australian Army was founded in 1901 with the Federation of Australia. Since its foundation, the Australian Army has actively protected Australia’s citizens and national interests. Since its trial-by-fire at Gallipoli, where the ANZAC spirit was born, the Australian Army’s involvement in wars and peacekeeping missions has been extensive. The Australian Army has gained immense experience and is among the most technologically advanced armies in the world. Recent conflicts include East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Australian Army collaborates very closely with the U.S, U.K, New Zealand, Canada and Japan.
Flag
The flag that represents the Australian Army in Squad is the Australian National Flag. The current version of the flag was adopted in 1908. The flag features a blue background with the Union Jack in the top left corner, with the Commonwealth Star underneath it. On the right of the flag is the Southern Cross constellation.

In-Game Equipment
The Australian Defence Force fields many variable-zoom optics for their small arms, combined with a high rate of fire and flat ballistics, making the faction one of the strongest in infantry combat. They are distinct in their clothing, with many of their soldiers wearing ballistic glasses and their marksman wearing a boonie hat.
The ADF vehicle lineup is somewhat simplistic, with one type of vehicle for each class. Nevertheless. These vehicles are balanced and adequately cover the typical operational needs in terms of firepower, protection, and maneuverability. The simplest playstyle is often the most effective.
